- The 3Achain project has evolved into the current Swiss Ledger.
Lugano Living Lab coordinated the creation of the blockchain 3 Achain: an ambitious project in which public administration, businesses and academia join forces and create an institutional blockchain at the service of the community. - A non-profit project that has two objectives:
- Enable anyone who needs blockchain technology
- Enable partner companies to obtain a unique advantage in terms of know-how
The roadmap, the technical aspects and the governance model were developed and implemented under the guidance of the Lugano Living Lab.

Description
- Authoritative, Trustworthy Ed Accessible: these are the characteristics of the blockchain created by the City of Lugano as part of the economic promotion activity developed by the Lugano Living Lab.
With this initiative, the city wants to strengthen its vocation as a reference hub in the field of blockchain technology and its vocation as a “Crypto-friendly City”.
3Achain makes blockchain technology available to anyone who needs it, overcoming the limits in terms of velocity and costs of large public blockchains (Bitcoin and Ethereum in the first place).
This unique result is possible thanks to the creation of a network of authoritative and reliable partners who are responsible for managing the platform according to a non-profit and distributed model.
Thus, a blockchain was born that, while maintaining all the technical characteristics of traditional public blockchains, offers unparalleled advantages in terms of performance and costs. - Anyone can use 3Achain to develop your own innovative application: the project is entirely based on technologies Open-Source so as to make the porting of your fast and painless code.
