On October 26, 2022, City of Lugano, USI, SUPSI and Franklin University Switzerland signed a framework agreement with the aim of consolidating collaboration within the “Lugano Plan” project and consciously integrating Bitcoin and Blockchain technology through educational and dissemination activities, creating a specific permanent working table to coordinate and strengthen the training offer linked to this technology.
This training course, called “B4B - Blockchain for Business” represents the first tangible initiative of the activity carried out in a synergistic manner between the City of Lugano and the universities.

Recipients and objectives
- The course is intended for directors, directors and collaborators of companies operating mainly in the service sector in Ticino who are interested in learning and developing greater knowledge in the blockchain field to support their business
- The course is particularly recommended for professionals who work in the following activities:
- banks (asset & wealth management, private banking, etc.);
- trade in raw materials, commodities, transport;
- consulting firms (accounting, tax, auditing, M&A, taxation, legal, etc.);
- companies operating in real estate services (real estate brokerage, etc.). - No special requirements are required for participation.
Participants will be issued a certificate of attendance (in case of absences, if participation is less than 80% of the entire duration of the course, they will not be entitled to obtain a certificate of attendance).

- Introduction to blockchain technology: basic concepts and operation
This module provides an overview of blockchain technology, focusing on its constituent aspects, from the distributed nature of P2P networks to consensus mechanisms. The architecture and the founding concepts of the blockchain ecosystem will also be illustrated, from the concepts of blocks, wallets, tokens to smart contracts. Topics such as blockchain analysis and cybersecurity will also be explored.
Participants will be provided with an in-depth understanding of the technology and the challenges that come with it.

- The evolution of money: from cash to digital assets
- This module focuses in particular on digital assets and cryptocurrencies, starting from the history of physical currency, up to the present day and the transition to digital currency. The different types of existing cryptocurrencies (including bitcoin, Stablecoins, Altcoins, CBDCs) will be explored, the tools that allow us to move from the world of traditional currencies to that of cryptocurrencies (and vice versa), as well as the classification of the different types of tokens and the consequences on the regulatory framework.

- Crypto economy: how to make ends meet without stumbling blocks!
This module explores the Swiss regulatory and regulatory landscape related to the blockchain world and cryptocurrencies. In addition, aspects related to the taxation and taxation of cryptocurrencies will be explored in order to understand their related implications. Accounting and VAT issues will also be addressed in order to understand the basic requirements for companies that interact with this sector.

- Blockchain for business: find out how to make the most of the potential and opportunities of this innovative technology!
This module explores the potential of blockchain technology and the resulting business/market opportunities. The students will also be engaged in the practical application of what they have learned in the training course undertaken, identifying and developing concrete cases of use of technology through group work.
