  • A training course to discover blockchain for professionals interested in approaching this innovative and disruptive technology to discover its potential and possible impact on their business. The course promoted by the City of Lugano is organized jointly with USI, SUPSI and Franklin University.
  • In the advanced module of the course, students will have the opportunity to develop a business project and participate in a mentorship program supported by professionals from market-leading companies such as Polygon Labs and Deloitte. The language of instruction of the course is Italian.

Objectives and recipients

  • The course is intended for directors, directors and collaborators of companies operating mainly in the service sector in Ticino who are interested in learning and developing greater knowledge in the blockchain field to support their business.

    The course is particularly recommended for professionals who work in the following activities:

    - banks (asset & wealth management, private banking, etc.);
    - trade in raw materials, transport;
    - consulting firms (IT, accounting, tax, auditing, M&A, taxation, legal, etc.);
    - companies operating in real estate services (real estate brokerage, etc.)
  • This program has been designed to guarantee participants not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills necessary to apply blockchain technology to their professional sector and in particular:

    - Provide a solid understanding of blockchain technology and its applications in different professional sectors by identifying its potential and opportunities.
    - Prepare professionals to implement blockchain solutions in their organization.
    - Update on the latest trends and innovations in the field of blockchain.
  • Through a training course divided into two modules - basic and advanced - the course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand, implement and exploit the opportunities offered by blockchain.

    No special requirements are required for participation. Participants will be issued a certificate of attendance (assuming a minimum participation of 80% of the entire duration of the course/module).

Parallel activities: Lugano Blockchain Launchpad

  • In addition to the training course, parallel - optional - activities will be offered focused on the implementation of concrete projects and support for business ideas. Thanks to a partnership with important leading companies in the blockchain sector, participants in the training course will have the opportunity to access targeted individual mentoring sessions by accessing a network of competent and extremely prepared people.
    These mentoring activities will be aimed at presenting concrete projects and case studies in order to then be able to access targeted funding to support the implementation and implementation of the business idea or of particularly deserving projects. It is with this spirit that these activities parallel to the training course were created, channeled into the program called “Lugano Blockchain Launchpad”.
  • The Lugano Blockchain Launchpad represents a unique opportunity for the participants of the Blockchain for Business (B4B) Course, with the objective, in addition to providing a solid theoretical base, of catalyzing innovation and promoting promising projects.
    Backed by industry leaders, the program is designed to be a concrete springboard for Lugano's blockchain innovation, combining advanced training, mentorship and acceleration to drive growth in the sector and in the region
  • The Lugano Blockchain Launchpad is aimed at all students of the Blockchain For Business Course who participate in the advanced module, offering them the unique opportunity to develop an entrepreneurial project in the blockchain sector followed by experts in the field.

    • The registration fee for the course is CHF 600.-- per module or CHF 1,000.-- for those who will take both.
      Possibility to benefit from a scholarship that will cover 50% of the registration fee for individuals or companies in the Lugano region (subject to limited availability).

    • Extension of the basic course with a focus on practical cases, project development and best practices. Students will gain more in-depth skills in the blockchain world.
  • Mentorship from great players: Lugano Blockchain Launchpad Month

    • Involvement of experts and mentors from the Polygon ecosystem, the local academy (USI, SUPSI and FUS), the City of Lugano, Deloitte's expert consultants and other stakeholders or other companies active in the blockchain world, to offer strategic and operational guidance to course participants during the acceleration period. Students can book meetings with mentors directly online throughout the month of October. The mentors will have different skills in order to provide support on all the business, legal and tech aspects necessary to better develop the project.
  • Lugano B4B Launchpad
    (Lugano Blockchain Launchpad)
    • Thanks to the consolidated collaboration between the City of Lugano and Polygon Labs, participants in the B4B course will have the opportunity to apply for incentives equal to CHF 25,000 to support the realization of their business idea, project or possibility of adopting blockchain-based solutions in their company. This is not a direct economic incentive but rather a contribution provided in the form of support, consultancy, development, etc. by professionals who will accompany the creation of the solution or a first PoC (Proof of Concept).

      The incentives will be given to encourage the implementation of projects that are developed on key sectors such as DeFi, uniqueness, traceability, etc. or other important areas.

      Those who are selected to access this support will receive concrete help, of value, equal to financial support quantifiable in CHF 25,000. The same will be divided into services/services as follows: 5k legal advice, 3k communication expenses, 7k specific advice, 10k technical development (a rough indication of the allocation that will then be defined between the evaluation committee of the projects and who will be selected). The providers of the services and services will be indicated directly by the promoters. The evaluation committee will be composed of experts from Polygon Labs, the City of Lugano and the academic world.
  • Innovation Booster Blockchain Nation Switzerland: Pitch Day 2024

    • Thanks to the collaboration with the Innovation Booster Blockchain Nation Switzerland, promoted by Innosuisse, participants in the B4B course will have the opportunity to apply for the Pitch Day 2024 organized by the Innovation Booster Blockchain Nation Switzerland and hosted in Lugano by L*3-City of Lugano.
      Pitch Day 2024 is scheduled for the last day of the course: October 30, 2024. Participants in the B4B course will be able to submit their ideas to the Innovation Booster through a dedicated form and if they meet the selection criteria, they will be invited to submit their ideas and will have the opportunity to receive a fund of up to 25,000 francs from the Innovation Booster Blockchain Nation Switzerland. Participants who decide to participate in the Innovation Booster Blockchain Nation Switzerland call will receive coaching from Polygon and Deloitte for the preparation of their pitch. Other participants of the B4B course will be able to participate in the Pitch Day as an auditor and discover innovative Swiss projects in the Blockchain field.
